The web without Google

Some arbitrary discussion on a popular online forum set me thinking along a very strange line – what would the web be with Google.com?

This might sound really strange and kind of unthinkable- but are we so dependant on google for our online businesses and daily needs that the internet without google would be unthinkable? Not only google, but any other search engine for that matter.Just imagine -

When there is tool to help you find out some thing important very quickly…Nothing to get visitors to your website, nothing at all to …well, depend on.

That’s the word which made me think – we really really depend on Google and other popular search engines for our online businesses and if there was no google, no SERPs to battle for, no PageRank to guage importance, no other aims to fight for, how would the internet finally emerge? How would it develop if it would develop? Would we suddenly go back to the stone age of the internet and all related services and rely on the good ‘ol radio, newspapers and billboards for advertisements of affiliate products selling herbal cures for suspicious medical diseases?

heck, my mind cannot even accurately think of the possiblities that would die out and the new possibilities that could emerge in case google shut off foreover.
